GOTO URL / NEWS & EVIDENCE

August–September 2026: providers publish GoTo URL fixes

DataForSEO and SerpApi describe restoring direct destination URLs. Those notices record adaptation at a point in time, rather than a permanent end to redirect problems.

How the notices evolved

DataForSEO’s 27 August notice reported direct organic destinations for 99.99% of returned SERPs, while some other features still contained unresolved links. Its 28 August update said its solution covered all affected elements, including AI Overviews, with rare exceptions possible. The percentage refers to SERPs, not an individual-link success rate.

Hilman Ramadhan’s 30 August SerpApi post described work in progress across affected result types. His 5 September notice said the fix was deployed and direct destination URLs were returning again.

Our viewpoint: useful evidence with a limited shelf life

These are meaningful operational disclosures. They show that the changed link format could be handled, and that coverage evolved by feature. They do not disclose enough of the collection method to let an outside reader reproduce a universal accuracy claim.

Keep the original dated statement when a new incident appears. A later failure does not prove that the earlier statement was false; conditions may have changed. Equally, repeating the old statement without checking the later conditions would give a reader a misleading impression of current coverage.

How to assess a provider’s next fix

Ask what counts as resolved, which features are covered and whether results are fresh. Test organic listings separately from AI citations, local results and any other module you rely on. Confirm whether failures are marked, retried, omitted or passed through as Google links.

The practical comparison is the quality of the report you receive for matched inputs. Request a short sample and inspect it before changing supplier. Marketing assurances should be supported by output you can audit.
